Michael Yon's Photojournalism

The "Long War" (as the GWOT: Global War on Terrorism is called by the troops) has been covered by many journalists. In my opinion, one of the best and most candid of these is the very talented photojournalist Michael Yon, who is himself a former U.S. Special Forces soldier. Very few "embedded" journalists have spent as much time with U.S. and Coalition troops "downrange" as he has, and it shows in his work.

You can check out much of Yon's work on his website, Michael Yon Online

One of his most iconic images and a great example of his work was taken in Mosul in 2005.

Yeah, it's always unfortunate when children suffer as a result of war. Trust me, it breaks my heart. I'm not opposed to war as an "institution" (it's part of human existence), but the children always get to you.

More reason to keep your principles sound and not let "evil" dominate the world. It's always a tough struggle, but all you can do is your own small part.

Go Infidels! :D

Children are the most unfortunate casualties of war. They have absolutely no idea why these bad things are happening.
